I was born in California and raised on the island of Kauai which I still call home.
Overweight, socially awkward, and geeky, I was a target for bullies and the few friends I had were other social misfits just like me.
There was only one thing I had that helped me to cope with my loneliness: my imagination.
For my entire life, I have been obsessed with good stories. When my parents told me stories or the elementary school librarian read to us, I was on the edge of my seat listening. When I was alone on the playground, I’d walk around and imagine myself as the hero of a story I had just heard. Whether it’s a book, a movie, or a plot-driven video game, I am addicted to a good story.
As I got older, I developed a passion for writing, and people around me could see that I had talent. Now, with the first draft of my first novel nearing completion, it is getting more and more clear that God has put me on this earth to write and to tell stories that change lives.
When I’m not writing, I’m reading a good book, hanging out with my many pets, enjoying a cup of coffee, or spending time with my family.
